Congress central election committee member AT Sethi is arriving in Imphal tomorrow in connection with the party election campaign for the ensuing bye-election to the 14-Yaiskul Assembly Constituency.
Meanwhile, hectic efforts are on among opposition parties to field a common candidate, the main opposition, NCP in the state Assembly is remaining silent mode.
Sethi will be arriving at 1 pm tomorrow to hold a meeting with the state Congress leaders at 2 pm, said a spokesperson of the MPCC who also informed that state Chief Minister, O Ibobi, MPCC president, Gaikhangam and office functionaries of the party will also attend the meeting.
During his stay in Imphal, the nomination of E Suraj son of late E Kunjeshawor as congress candidate in the bye-election will be finalized.
He will also complete the process of enrolment of new members of
the party.
The party has decided to increase party members in a polling station from 25 to 50 .
On the other hand, even though there were talks on fielding a common candidate of the opposition parties in the bye-election, NCP is remaining silent.
The party is not yet taking interest in fielding a common candidate, a spokesperson of the party disclosed.
None so far apply for candidature for the party but the party will hold a meeting on November 30 coming to discuss on the ensuing by-election.
Decision with regard to the fielding of common candidate will also take in the meeting.
The meeting will also decide with which party they will in the meeting.
