Major General U K Gurung flags in National Integration Tour team

Imphal, February 25 2012:
A National Integration Tour team of 20 school children and three teachers from schools of Chandel and Chakpikarong Sub-Division of Chandel District was flagged in today by Major General U K Gurung, YSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) at HQ IGAR (S) amidst festivity and fervour.
The tour was undertaken under 'Op Sadbhavana', Military Civic Action project.
The tour was flagged off by DC Chandel and Commander 26 Sect AR on February 10 to Bangalore, stated a press release of PRO IGAR (S) today.
The children visited HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) on the first day where they witnessed and understood the technology which goes in making of an Aircraft.
They also saw the Aircraft Museum and Planatorium on the same day.
The children had a refreshing next day on their visit to Lal Bagh and Vidhan Sauda.
On February 16 they visited Mysore, where Vrindavan Garden, Mysore palace and Tipu Sultan's Fort were on their itinerary.
The children went to Visvesaria Technological Museum and Banarcata Biological Park, where they enjoyed the jungle safari.
They were exposed to Army and Air Force Life on their visit to Army Service Corps and Centre and Air Force Station.
During their stay in Bangalore children interacted with children of kid zee and various local schools in an exchange programme to ensure exchange of ideas and cultural heritage.
They also shopped around in plazas and enjoyed ride in Metro during their stay.
On February 20 the children interacted with His Excellency, Dr Hans Raj Bhardwaj, the Governor of Karnataka, based on the arrangements made by DC Chandel.
His Excellency spared his valuable time to not only interact with the children and teachers but also personally conducted the children around the Raj Bhavan enlightening them about the heritage of the place.
Maj Gen U K Gurung, YSM encouraged the young children by inspiring them to do well in their career ahead and wished children best of luck for their future.
He assured the august gathering to continue such Integration tours to motivate and educate children from remote locations for bright, prosperous Manipur.
He presented the children the mementoes for remembrance, the release added.
