Imphal, February 25 2012:
Concerned by the engagement of graduate/primary teachers as invigilators in the ongoing Cl-XI and HSSLC exams, the All Manipur Hills Contract Basis Lecturers' Association has decided that its members would not evaluate the answer scripts of Cl-XI and XII exam candidates.
It may be mentioned that the contract basis lecturers have been on cease work strike since January 16 owing to non-payment of remuneration for 14 months and non-extension of service.
The lecturers have also boycotted the ongoing council's exams.
In their absence the authority concerned had engaged graduate teachers as invigilators in some centres.
A statement issued by the association president Doukhomang Haokip asserted that it deeply felt the attitude of the government in denying the fact and suppressing legitimate demands by instructing the principals to make necessary arrangement.
If the engaged teachers are competent enough to replace them, the teachers should also evaluate the answer scripts without further question, it added.
Doukhomang Haokip further affirmed that the association would never call-off the ongoing cease-work strike unless the demands are fulfilled.
