The seventh edition of Bengaluru Habba, kick-started on Friday and was marked by a Dollu Kunitha and Manipuri folk dance performance at the Chitrakala Parishath.
Traditional dancers from Karnataka and Manipur were seen dancing in full vigour, at the Arts and Crafts Mela, setting the tone for the 10-day extravaganza.
Later in the day, there were jazz performances by Gerard Machado and Moon Arra.
Nandini Alva and Padmini Ravi, both trustees of Artistes' Foundation for the Arts (AFFA), had conceptualised Bengaluru Habba first in 2002 .
Talking about the Habba this year, Padmini Ravi said, "We try to keep improvising every year, attempting to bring the very best to the city".
Nandini Alva said, "International jazz artistes, for the very first time, have been invited to perform in the city".
Several exclusive features have been included in the festival.
The Indian Art Trail, a unique art exhibition, is held at several places including UB City, Renaissance Gallerie and others.
For the first time, Jazz performances featuring Dana Gillespie will be showcased.
There will be creative writing workshops too.
Besides, greats like Naseeruddin Shah, Pravin Godkhindi, Pt Jasraj and Balamuralikrishna will also perform.
