State Joint Chief Electoral Officer today asked the DC, Imphal east district who is also the district electoral officer to submit a report on the alleged violation of model code of conduct of election by Chief Minister, O Ibobi.
BJP Manipur Pradesh lodged the complained to the Election Commission that Chief Minister O Ibobi violated the election code of conduct, in force due to by-poll to Yaiskul Assembly constituency on December 19 while delivering his speech at a function in connection with World Disabilities Day function on December 3 .
CM had announced setting up of a special school and employment exchange for the disabled, BJP president H Borobabu alleged in the complaint filed Thursday.
Quoting media report the party alleged that the chief minister had also promised three percent reservation for disabled persons in government jobs and admission to educational institutions, Borobabu said, adding that these amounted to violation of code of conduct.
Meanwhile, BJP, North East in-charge, organisation secretary, P Chandrasekhar Rao has arrived Imphal yesterday as observer for the bye-election to the Yaiskul Assembly Constituency, state BJP president Dr H Borbabu said today at a press conference.
A meeting of the party was held today the residence former Chief Minister, RK Dorendro under the chair of the visiting organisation secretary and discussed on the bye-election.
The party decided to start campaign for the candidate they extended support.
