Imphal, April 11 2022:
Directorate of AYUSH and State AYUSH Society, Manipur jointly observed "World Homeopathy Day" under the theme "People's choice for wellness" at Imphal Hotel, yesterday.
World Homeopathy Day is being celebrated to commemorate the 267th birth anniversary of Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann and to celebrate the contribution of homeopathy to the world of medicine.
Speaking as the chief guest, AYUSH Director Dr A Guneshwor Sharma said that Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann was the founder of homeopathy which brought substantial changes to medical science.
He was born on April 10, 1755 in Germany.
"Other than simply observing the day, more research work and knowledge sharing are indispensable to promote homeopathy," he opined.
Saying that homeopathy is also an important medical system which has negligible side effects, Dr Guneshwor maintained that much efforts should be put to promote homeopathy which can benefit human society.
"We should focus on a health care delivery system which not only focuses on treatment but also on preventive and promotive methods using natural means," he added.
Saying that the AYUSH Department formulated one policy in 2019 to establish several AYUSH health and wellness centres in India to provide cost effective treatment facilities to the people, Dr Guneshwor reasoned that promoting homeopathy will also help promote the herbal and natural medicine/plants.
AYUSH Additional Director & member secretary State Ayush Society Manipur M.Shyamjai Singh also attended the programme.
