A centenary edition of MK Binodini Devi's Bor Saheb ongbi Sanatombi in Meitei Mayek from Imasi Publications was offered on the 174th death anniversary of Maharaja Narasingh at Kangla today.
As per a statement, the offering along with flowers was made by members of Sri Sri Govindaji Jalakeli Pala.
The 174th death anniversary observance of Maharaja Narasingh was organised by State Archaeology, Department of Art and Culture, the statement added.
The event was graced by Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the chief guest and Leishemba Sanajaoba, titular king and MP, Rajya Sabha as the president of the function.
Speaking on the occasion, L Somi Roy, founder and Managing Trustee of Imasi: The Maharaj Kumari Binodini Foundation stated that the new edition of the book will be very useful to the students of Manipur University as it is a part of their curriculum at the Masters level.
Wangam Somorjit, historian and member of Imasi Foundation's Advisory Council added that their series of Meitei Mayek editions of MK Binodini's works will provide further research and study into her literature and the crucial historical period of the novel.
Thoidingjam Lakshmipriya Devi, head of Sri Sri Govindaji Jalakeli Pala and the eldest grandchild of Maharaja Churachand Singh and Maharani Dhanamanjuri, shared that Maharaja Narasingh had founded the Pala in 1845 .
