MPP observes condolence meeting

A condolence meeting on sudden demise of Dr L Chandramani, who passed away on the eve of May 4 at Raj Medicity Hospital, owing to health issues, was held at the resident of Manipur People's Party (MPP) president Oinam Jugindro Singh at 11:00 am yesterday, said a press release by MPP.
The meeting which could not be held at party office due to Coronavirus pandemic, was attended by party workers and members while maintaing social and physical distance, where party president Oinam Jugindro also gave a brief account on life and achievements of Dr L Chandramani, it said.
Dr L Chandramani Singh was born on May 15, 1934 at Patsoi Part-IV.
He performed as general secy for Pan Manipur Youth League in 1970 and after joining politics in 1972 was appointed speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly for two terms.
He also held the office of Deputy Chief Minister for two terms.
In 2006, he held office as president of Manipur People's Party for a period of three years.
Apart from his political achievements, he authored three books called History of Manipur, Boundaries of Manipur and Athouba Sing gi Ningshing Numit.
Jugindro Singh expressed that his death will leave a void in the party and said the party flag will remain hoisted at half mast for three days as a sign of respect.
Two minutes silence was also observed, praying for his soul to rest in peace, it also said.
The party also gives condolences to the family and shares grief for their loss.
