Entry and exit at Kangla restricted

Considering the need to maintain the sanctity of the sacred Kangla Fort and to contain misuse of its premises, entry and exit of all vehicles inside the Fort would be prohibited with effect from February 24 .
An order to this effect has been passed by the Superintendant of Archeology following a notification issued by Kangla Fort Board on February 18, 2013 .
The decision to restrict entry and exit of all vehicles with exception to the carcade of the Governor and the Chief Minister of Manipur was taken by Kangla Fort Board in pursuance of its resolution adopted in a meeting on January 24 last.
According to the order, the decision has been taken taking into consideration of the need to maintain the sanctity of Kangla, to control the misuse of its premises and also in view of the movement of large number of motor vehicles which have affected the natural habitation and wild life inside the historic fort.
The order, however, allows the entry and exit of the carcade of the Governor, Chief Minister of Manipur and staff working inside Kangla and members of Kangla Fort Board and its Committee.
The order further informs that the vehicles of staff working inside Kangla and members of Kangla Fort Board and its Committee would enter and exit through the Southern gate only and park inside their respective office premises.
The northern and western main gates shall be closed and will be opened only when the carcade of the Governor or the CM have to pass through Kangla.
Official tankers transporting water from the Water Supply Scheme located inside Kangla shall also enter and exit through the southern gate only.
Private tankers will not be allowed to enter inside Kangla.
The water pump should also be closed by 10am everyday to avoid inconveniences to visitors, the order said.
All visitors shall enter through the southern gate after leaving their vehicles at the allotted parking space.
Those who carry valid passes for morning and evening walk inside Kangla shall leave their vehicles outside Kangla and can enter only on foot through the pedestrian gates on all the three gates, the order further instructed.
