K Robindro donates oxygen cylinders, RK Imo ventilators

Imphal, May 18 2021: In view of shortage of medical oxygen and other life-saving equipment among patients suffering from COVID-19, Mayang Imphal MLA and deputy speaker Kongkham Robindro has handed over 40 oxygen cylinders to the chief minister's relief fund on Tuesday while Sagolband MLA RK Imo donated five ICU Portable Ventilators to the Health Department for distribution to healthcare centres in remote districts.

Deputy speaker Robindro handed over the fully filled oxygen cylinders to director (health) Dr K Rajo at the storehouse of RD Wing, Lamphelpat here.

Before handing over the oxygen cylinders, Robindro expressed deep concern that many people of the state have suffered in the harsh second wave of COVID-19 and many have succumbed to the disease.

Noting that the evolving health crisis has not only affected economy but also created social crisis, the Mayang Imphal legislator said that as a representative of the people he decided to do something for the people in this hour of crisis and hence donated the oxygen cylinders.

In view of the present situation, chief minister N Biren is also working hard and bringing oxygen cylinders from outside for the people of Manipur, Robindro said, adding that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is continuously sending oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators to the state.

While stressing the need for people to join hands with the government and collectively fight the pandemic, the deputy speaker also called for following SOPs issued by the government to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission.

After receiving oxygen cylinders, health director K Rajo said that oxygen cylinders donated by the MLA will reduce shortage of oxygen being faced by the state at least to some extent.

It will be big help in treatment of patients affected the pandemic if ministers, leaders and public donate something at their capacities at this hour of health crisis, he added.

Meanwhile, with stated objective to help lessen the issue of shortage of medical oxygen and ventilators besetting the, MLA RK Imo donated 5 ICU Portable Ventilators to remote district hospitals through the Health Services director Dr K Rajo in a simple function held at his residence on Tuesday.

The MLA had earlier donated same number of ICU Portable Ventilators to JNIMS hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, RK Imo informed that portable ventilators are to be distributed to district hospitals of Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Thoubal and others.

He urged the authorities of the district hospital concerned to utilise the ventilators for saving lives of people in remote areas of the state.

In his speech, Dr K Rajo appreciated the MLA for his assistance especially during this pandemic, adding that the ventilator will be able to save the lives of many people.

The function was also attended by IMC Ward no.7 corporator RK Jiten.
