Highest single day spike of 730 new cases reported, 10 die

The state on Saturday recorded yet another highest single day spike of 730 Covid-19 new cases along with 10 fatalities.
With the addition of 730 new cases, the active caseload has reached 6215 of which 3737 are in home isolation and the remaining 2478 undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities.
Saturday reported a single day positivity rate of 21.28 per cent.
Monthly average positivity rate for May has reached 16.84 per cent.
The last seven days reported 4277 new cases and 101 fatalities while the current month reported 7466 new cases and 157 fatalities.
According to official reports, all the 730 new cases (380 male & 350 female) are from among the general population.
Their samples were tested at JNIMS (115), RIMS (31), Imphal East (11), Imphal West (93), Maipakpi (5), Mother's Care (7), CMC (1), Hillside (3), SWISS (4), Si-elmat (4), Samaritan (2), Lamjingba (1), Little Clinic (1), Gilead Health Care Centre (3), Raj Medicity (74), Ema Hospital (7), Asian Hospital (6), Iboyaima Hospital (1), Jivan Hospital (11), Shija Hospitals (39), Babina Diagnostics (101), Escent Diagnostics (35), Thoubal (37), Bishnupur (17), Kakching (39), Churachandpur (16), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (39), Kangpokpi (11), Jiribam (8) and Ukhrul (7) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (208), Imphal West (268), Thoubal (53), Bishnupur (38), Kakching (58), Ukhrul (8), Churachandpur (28), Chandel (5), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (39), Kangpokpi (15) and Jiribam (8) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The 10 fatalities reported on Saturday were a 67-year old male (Kak), a 61-year old male (IW), a 49-year old male (CCpur), a 61year old male (IW), a 81-year old female (IE), an 80-year old male (IE), a 75-year old male (IW), a 52year old female (IW), a 75-year old male (IW), and a 67-year old male (IW) who died at Shija Hospitals (1), DH Churachandpur (2), JNIMS (3) and RIMS (4) hospital respectively.
The cumulative number of deaths has reached 562.In the last 24 hours, 403 persons were discharged from CAPF (4), home isolation (319), RIMS (2), JNIMS (1), RD Wing (7), BB (18), NSU (12), RAJMED (10), SHRI (11), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (6), Tamenglong (3) and Ukhrul (8).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 39,052 (general population - 35,362 and CAPF personnel - 3,690).Number of recovered cases is 32,275 (general population -28,762 and CAPF personnel - 3,513) and number of active cases is 6215 (general population - 6043 and CAPF personnel - 172) .
The recovery rate is 82.64 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1393 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 474 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities in the state.
As of Friday, 3,02,287 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19.CCR report informed air passengers, who travelled into the state on (i) May 14 by Air India AI-525 in rows 10-16 and 18-24 and (ii) May 6 by 6E-524 in rows 17-23 to report to the Common Covid Control Room 1800- 345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
Meanwhile, 73 new positive cases have been detected during RAT conducted in Kakching district on Saturday.
Seven positive cases were detected at Ema Hospital, 11 at Jivan Hospital and 53 at government testing centre.
With the increasing number of Covid patients, CCCs and CHICs set up in the district will soon face shortage of beds and space.
The CCC located at Kakching Higher Secondary School has 40 patients and there are only 10 beds available as on Saturday evening.
Number of positive cases lodged in different CHICs in the district is Kakching Makha High School (25), ITI Kakching (30), Kha Manipur College (40), Wabagai High School (5), Langmeidong Higher Secondary School (98), JNV Umathel (3) .

Vacant beds in the CHICs are Kakching Makha Leikai High School (25), ITI (20), Kha Manipur College (10), Wabagai High School (45), and JNV Umathel (97) while the beds in Langmeidong Higher Secondary School are fully occupied.
On the other hand, the district is also staring at a possible oxygen crisis as number of patients requiring oxygen support is increasing along with the spike in new cases.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (13,662), Imphal East (9029), Thoubal (2991), Churachandpur (2637), Kangpokpi (1332), Tamenglong (1625), Bishnupur (2029), Senapati (908), Ukhrul (929), Kakching (1455), Chandel (770), Noney (476), Tengnoupal (456), Jiribam (385), Kamjong (331), and Pherzawl (37).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (205), Imphal East (142), Thoubal (64), Churachandpur (45), Kangpokpi (17), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (37), Senapati (2), Ukhrul (5), Kakching (19), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure differs from data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 12,585 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 18,510 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,11,784 tests per million population against the national average of 2,24,909 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.44 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 3431 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 21.28 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 5.94 per cent.
