Imphal, May 15 2021:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has called upon all the people of the State to come forward and contribute whatever they can in the fight against COVID-19 .
In a statement, AMUCO appealed to one and all to help health care workers in every possible way.
In addition to helping health care workers in vaccinating, testing and treating COVID-19 patients, people need to take up all necessary measures within their capacity to check the spread of COVID-19 within their respective localities.
"If we just sit back and wait for the Government to act, Manipur may suffer deaths of unimaginable magnitude", it said.
It then appealed to all the people to follow the instructions and protocol issued by the Government from time to time.
"Even if there are flaws and lapses in the Government's action, we must volunteer to offer better suggestions and involve ourselves instead of nit-picking from all directions", AMUCO said.

"The situation is so critical that every one must the fight the war as warriors", it continued.
It is not time for the masses to stand back and heap the entire responsibility of fighting such a critical war upon the shoulders of only the Government, health care workers and frontline workers.
AMUCO also appealed to local clubs to persuade people in their respective localities to follow the do's and don'ts issued by the Government and experts regarding the pandemic.
It is also crucial for police to rein in SOP violators effectively in collaboration with local clubs.
The CSO further appealed to all the locals clubs as well as all the concerned people to prohibit and stop gambling, playing ludo and other acts of gathering in defiance of the lockdown/curfew.
Blaming hospitals and health care workers for non-availability of beds, oxygen, medicines etc and failure to respond promptly to distress calls cannot control the pandemic.
At the same time, confinement of people within their homes for protracted periods in the name of lockdown/curfew cannot go on forever.
The Government must ensure that people in the hills and rural areas can engage in their agricultural activities with full vigour.
Engagement in such economic activities would go a long way in dissuading people from gathering with each other and it would also enhance the State's productivity, AMUCO opined.
As the pandemic has hit hard the whole country, States may not be willing to share or export their produces with other States.
"As such, our farmers must be engaged in exhaustive agricultural and other economic activities so that Manipur need not import basic food items from other States.
For this, the Government must provide all necessary inputs", AMUCO asserted.
"It would be wrong to assume that confinement is the only means to contain the pandemic.
While taking utmost care, we must do our fundamental duties for posterity", it remarked.
"We should not run away from COVID-19 but fight it boldly by effectively preventing its modes of transmission", it added.
