Proper guidance of students must for a dignified generation: Dhanakumar

Noting that proper guidance of young students in the right direction is much necessary so as to produce a strong generation in coming days, former Chairman of Board of Secondary Education (BSEM) P Dhanakumar has asserted that load of syllabus and study shouldered by students of primary level in the States including Manipur is much higher as compared to other countries.
He was speaking during a felicitation function held to honor top ten position holders of the HSLC examination 2014 conducted by BSEM at the conference hall of BSEM at Babupara here today.

Addressing the gathering as the functional president, Dhanakumar said that it is high time to frame types of curriculum/syllabus which could facilitate talents of students and maintained that students in developed countries like Japan and China do not study more than 1000 hours in a year while in India students are made to study more than 1500 hours in a year.
He admitted that commercialization of education sector has led students to adopt unfair means which should be rectified by concerted efforts from parents, school administrators including public.
Exhorting the students to regard their studies wholeheartedly as education bring s development and growth in the society, the former Chairman of BSEM added that proper guidance and care should be given to students as they are the future of the nation.
During the function, several awards presented by BSEM namely Top Ten Rank Holders Award which includes one gold medal and two silver medals; Elementary Manipuri Award; State Government Award in Science Popularization and other 23 awards sponsored by individuals and trusts were presented to the top ten position holders including several others who secured letter marks in different subjects in the examination.
Ng Amumacha, retd Joint Director of Education Department; C Amuba, former Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University and Md Janab Khan, former Additional Director of Education (U) were also present as chief guest and guests of honor at the function which was organized by BSEM.
