KSO, KIM agree to call off bandh

Following a meeting with the State Government regarding the controversy surrounding demarcation of National Sports University site, the KSO and the Kuki Inpi Manipur have agreed to call off the bandh/blockade imposed in Kangpokpi district.
The State Government was represented by YAS Minister Letpao Haokip, advisor to CM Ngamthang Haokip, Forest & Environment Minister Awangbow Newmai and Education Minister S Rajen.
After thorough discussion, the meeting held yesterday in the conference hall of the Secretariat agreed to recommend that the National Sports University be renamed as National Sports University, Haraothel.
While acknowledging that the land for the NSU campus had been donated by the villagers of Koutruk, Senjam Khunou, Senjam Chirang and Haraothel, the gathering agreed that the land demarcation should be re-visited with a view to ascertain the areas adversely affected on the Haraothel side so as to make suitable re-adjustment on other sides of the NSU campus.
