Death toll climbs to 83, DGP tests positive

COVID-19 continued to take its toll in the State claiming three more lives during the last 24 hours even as DGP LM Khaute tested positive for the contagion today.
DGP LM Khaute has gone under home isolation at his quarters after his sample tested positive for COVID-19 at JNIMS today.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, an 85-year old man from Thoubal, one 70-year old from Imphal West and a 65-year old male from Kangpokpi died at RIMS, JNIMS and Shija Hospital during the last 24 hours.
Thus the State's COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 83.In the meantime, 190 persons including 10 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Kakching, Christian Hospital, Imphal West, Jivan Hospital, Shija Hospital, Imphal East, Samaritan Hospital, Senapati, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Noney, Churachandpur, Raj Medicity, Ukhrul, RD Wing, Tamenglong, Remedy Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Hillside Hospital, Asian Hospital and Mothers Care.
Of the 180 civilians who have been tested positive, 50 belong to Imphal West, 36 to Imphal East, eight to Thoubal, two to Kangpokpi, 17 to Bishnupur, two to Kakching, one to Chandel, five to Senapati, 29 to Churachandpur, five to Ukhrul, 20 to Tamenglong and five to Noney.
Out of them, 176 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 115 persons have been discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (2), RIMS (2), Noney (9), Kakching (1), CCC UNACCO (27), CCC Lamding (15), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (16), CCC Tamenglong (10), CCC Bishnupur (1), CCC Thoubal (19), CCC Jiribam (4), CCC Senapati (1), CCC Kamjong (1) and CCC Kasom Khullen (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 12,679 (general population 10,190, Central security personnel 2,489) .
It includes 2877 active cases (general popu- lation 2,495, Central security personnel 382) and 9719 discharged cases (general population 7,615, Central security personnel 2,104) .
