Ten curfew violators test positive

As part of mass random testing done in several areas of the state to detect and break the chain of transmission of Covid-19, state police along with health department detained and conducted test on over 350 curfew violators, out of which ten of them were confirmed to be positive on Wednesday.
The combined team of police and health department set up mobile testing centres at several areas of the state and examined samples of people who came out in violation of curfew imposed for containing the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thoubal district police and health department detained curfew violators and conducted Covid-19 test at Li- long Bazar and Aliya Lamkhai.
In all, 44 violators were made to undergo testing and four of them including a woman tested positive for Covid-19.The positive violators were then sent to Covid Care Centre.
City police and Imphal police conducted the random testing by tying up with state health department at several areas of Imphal West district.
City police detained curfew violators at Khoyathong and Nagamapal areas.
28 violators were then taken to TG Higher Secondary School and conducted Covid test (RT-PCR).
Their results will be known on Thursday.
Imphal police detained 159 curfew violators and conducted Covid testing at Sagolband Mantri Lampak.
During the random test, six violators turned out to be positive.
They were then sent to a Covid Care Centre.
Also, Imphal East district police detained 34 curfew violators at Palace Gate and they were made them to conduct Covid test at State Kala Academy but all the violators turned out to be Covid negative.
In Kakching district, a team of district police led by SP Victoria Yengkhom along with Additional SP (Law and Order) Yumnam Joyraj and Kakching District Covid Testing Team detained curfew violators at Kakching Sumak Leikai around 2 pm.
During the drive, 107 violators were tested, out of which two male violators from Kakching Wairi Pareng and Kakching Chumnang Leikai Thongkhong were confirmed to be positive for Covid-19.Meanwhile, a release issued by Covid nodal officer IGP (ops) Manipur Police Department E Priyokumar informed that 290 people were detained and levied Rs 1,06,600 as fine for violating Covid-19 guidelines on Wednesday.
