AR develops ecotourism, dedicates ring road & football ground to locals

In an effort to promote self employment through ecotourism and to prevent practices of illegal deforestation, Chandel Bn of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) developed an ecotourism spot near a waterfall in the vicinity of New Wangparel village.
Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles inaugurated the ecosystem spot and dedicated it to the locals yesterday.
The event was attended by Commandant Chandel Battalion, New Wangparel village Chief Nehimiah and 217 locals.
The spot was developed after inspecting the area with the villagers.
With the coordinated efforts of Assam Rifles and locals, the waterfall now includes a rest house, visitors parking, waiting shed, toilet facility and is approachable by vehicles after the construction of the road track.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Commander of 26 Sector Assam Rifles lauded the hard work of the villagers maintaining that New Wangparal will become a popular tourist destination of Manipur because of the rich ecosystem and the beautiful waterfall.
In an another event, on January 28, Chandel Battalion also dedicated a Ring road and a football ground to the villagers of New Wangparal.
Before the construction of the ring road, the villagers had to face immense grievances while plying on dilapidated road condition opposite to the black topped road of Chandel town.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by 72 males, 59 female and 15 children.
In the month of November last year, the youth of New Wangparal and New Wangparal Football Club approached Chandel Battalion to develop a football ground at the village to provide a platform to nurture the raw and hidden talent of the village.
The inauguration ceremony of the football ground was held on January 28 wherein many famous footballer of Minerva Football Club Sonem also graced the occasion.
The village chief of New Wangparal Nehimiah appreciated the selfless efforts of Chandel Battalion and Assam Rifles for dedicating the ring road and football ground to the villagers.
