Legal awareness camp held at Maichon village, Ukhrul

Ukhrul, January 30 2019:
A one-day legal awareness programme on ''National Food Security Act", "National Social Assistance Programme" and "Effective implementation of poverty alleviation schemes", organized by Maichon Village Authority, was held at Maichon village, Ukhrul today.
CJM Alek Muivah who is also secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Ukhrul deliberated on "How to enrich the rural people on various Government sponsored schemes especially for the BPL families" .
The resource persons also enlightened the villagers on the various provisions and the act enacted by the Government for ensuring NFSA, Social Assistance Programmes implemented by the Social Welfare department Worming the participants about the activities of NALSA and how to avail free legal services and assistance in time of needs, the resource persons also conveyed that persons belonging to ST/SC, female, BPL individual, disabled persons, victims of trafficking and natural calamities can approach at any of the legal aid clinic for legal assistance.
An interaction programme was also held as part of the programme during which the villagers raised queries regarding the limited 10-11 days of MGNREGS implementation in the last fiscal year in spite of 100 days guaranteed employment and non-issuance of NFSA cards to' some families of the village.
Later, CJM Alek felicitated the visiting ADC member Thuingahan Pheirim during the programme.
Over 120 villagers including Angel A Shishak, Social Welfare Dept, J Bimol Asst Public Prosecutor and PLVs participated in the legal awareness programme jointly organised by District Legal Services sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services while Pastor Rev Victor Riyang pronounced prayer before closing the programme.
