Awareness prog on potential of space technology held

A one day awareness programme on the potential of space technology and its applications was held today at the conference hall of National Institute of Technology, Imphal.
The awareness programme was jointly organised by NIT, Imphal and North Eastern Space Applications Centre, Shillong.
Dr N M Desai Deputy
Director of SNAA, SAC, Ahmedabad, Dr S Birendra Director of NIT Imphal, PLN Raju Director of NESAC, Shillong, Dr Ganesh Raj Director of RESPOND, ISRO, Bangalore and Prof Arun Kumar of Dept of Earth Science, MU, graced the opening session of the awareness programme as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Dr N M Desai said India become one of the global player of commercializing space capabilities with the advancement of space technology.
Many countries began depending on Indian space technology.
Space technology and its application is mainly beneficial to the area where it is not freely accessible.
The space data collection can help local planning and development specially in the North Eastern region where there is limited connectivity and physical infrastructure, Desai added.
The main objective of today's workshop was to impart knowledge to the people about space technology and its applications in the development of infrastructures in the North Eastern region.
Govt officials, academicians, researchers and students attended today's awareness programme.
