Imphal, September 27 2016:
Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) has urged the Government not to appoint anybody who have not passed Meetei Mayek TET (Supplementary) as Primary and Upper Primary teachers.
MEELAL president Moirangthem Naokhamba said that appointment of candidates who do not have Meetei Mayek knowledge as teachers would turn out to be a huge loss for the State.
When Moirangthem Okendra was the Education Minister, aTET for Meetei Mayek was held in 1013, he said.
However, the said TET could not be held for some subjects like Maths, English and EVS etc, he said.
As such, aTET (supplementary) for these subjects were also held a few months back under the supervision of incumbent Education Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Naokhamba said and added that around 1700 candidates passed the said test.
As such, candidates who do not have Meetei Mayek knowledge must not be appointed as Government teachers even if they are DIET or BEd qualified, he said.
Naokhamba further said that it is unfortunate that some BEd and DIET qualified candidates have moved the Court on the matter.
