Imphal, September 27 2016:
Tribal Affairs and Hills Commissioner T Pamei today said the ongoing economic blockade by contractual teachers under ADC, Senapati, is not justifiable.
The Tribal Affairs and Hills Commissioner in a statement said the matter of the appointment of the contractual primary teachers has already been inquired into in the past and the Government
had concluded that the appointment of the 136 primary teachers by the Chief Executive Officer of the ADC, Senapati, is illegal.
The Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills, on February 9 this year, had cancelled all the appointment orders that were allegedly issued by the then Chief Executive Officer of the ADC, Senapati, Kh Biramani and Chairman RS Henry.
The State Government had also declared the appointment orders as null and void.
The issue of appointment orders by Kh Biramani and RS Henry were in complete violation of the existing Government orders on recruitment, T Pamei stated.
The Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman did not take into account the existing vacancy position neither did they obtain prior approval of the Government which is mandatory under the existing Government policy.
T Pamei while appealing to all the concerned to call off the economic blockade said those involved in the protest and other unlawful means to achieve their demands are liable to be booked under relevant laws and acts.
The Government is contemplating taking up action against the responsible officers and authority involved under the Public Servant Liability Act 2006 and other Acts, he stated.
