The 3rd annual function of Manipur Sanskrit Academy, Rajarshi Gokulam Trust, was held at Lamyanba Shanglen today.
As a part of the event, Sanskrit teacher Phurailatpam Brajabihari Sharma and social worker cum writer cum translator Dangmei Tomba Kabui alias Lungpujei Kabui were honoured with mementos and gifts.
Former president of Seva Bharati Aribam Brajakumar Sharma, Brahma Sabha Pancharatna and retd Hindi High School teacher Pandit Shijagurumayum Gouramani Sharma and Rajyogini Brahmakumari Nilima attended and Rajyogini Brahmakumari Nilima attended the event as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Phurailatpam Brajabihari Sharma of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai was born on July 29, 1950, and he completed Karma Kanda Dharma Shastri (Upadhi), Sanskrit Panini (Aadya) and Kabya (Madya) and has written many scripts including that of Sakuntala, Sabitri Satyaban and Mahabharat etc.
He was conferred gifts and mementoes in recognition of his contribution to the society.
On the other hand, Tomba Kabui alias Lungpuijei Kabui was born on June 21, 1948 at Kokadan village of Churachandpur (he is currently a resident of Mahabali Kabui Khul, Imphal East).
He has written many poems including Kairaba Tengtha, Imagi Leichal etc as well as numerous books like Chuk Soi (a religious text written in Kabui dialect) and Santigi Lambida Kabui Salang Maiba.
Apart from having keen interest in Sahitya, Tomba was also the editor of Chaangthan as well as a former vice president of All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) .
