Manipuri culture, a fusion of different philosophies: Art and Culture Minister

Art and Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has said that Manipur is a land which is rich in art and culture and the unique Manipuri culture is a fusion of different philosophies which makes it a cultural mosaic.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Golden Jubilee celebration of Manipur State Museum, Imphal, Jayantakumar said that everyone is aware of the role and contribution of museum in the art and culture of a State.
Museum is the artefact that narrates many past events and memories.
It is also a sort of temple.
When the question of one's identity arises, one can go to a museum.
It is the storehouse of our ancestral history and the way of life.
To know one's identity is not an easy task, rather it is very time consuming.

A museum can narrate to and inform about our origin and our past way of life, the Minister said.
He said that the present generation needs to conduct research to find and understand the different ways of living of the communities in different societies.
The Minister also said that everyone should have a positive approach towards their culture.
The tradition and customs of our hill people should also be promoted.
For this, we need to develop mutual understanding and relationship.
Physical participation of hill tribe to showcase their rich indigenous culture is quite necessary, he added.
Commissioner Art and Culture, Manipur, Bobby Waikhom, Director Art and Culture, A Shivadas Sharma, attended the function as the president and guest of honour respectively.
Prizes for the painting competition held to mark the golden jubilee celebration was also distributed to the winners during the function.
Certificates were also distributed to the participants of the Cultural Appreciation Course.
