HM up Karnataka CM; talks about attack on Manipuri youths

In the wake of attack on three Northeast youth in Bangalore, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today called up Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and asked him to ensure that there is no discrimination against anyone on the basis of caste, creed and sect.
During the telephonic conversation with Siddaramaiah, the Home Minister raised the issue of assault on the three Northeast students in Bangalore on Tuesday night.
"The Karnataka Chief Minister informed me that the police responded quickly and arrested all those who were involved in attacking the Northeast students.
There should be no discrimination against anyone in our country on the basis of caste, creed or sect," he said.
The students were allegedly beaten up in a Bangalore locality for not speaking Kannada.
The three accused have already been arrested.
Meanwhile, Manipur BJP today condemned the incident saying that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister will be urged to take action to punish all the culprits involved in the brutal assault on Lamjathang Haokip and two of his friends.
An engineering student from Manipur Lamjathang Haokip and two of his friends were assaulted by a group of people in Bangalore on October 14 night.
Michael Lamjathang Haokip, 24, hailing from Manipur's Churachandpur district was seriously hurt in the attack that occurred in Bangalore's Indiranagar area.
State BJP president told reporters at the party office that his party will send letters to the Central Government and Karnataka Chief Minister as well to insist on them to stop such crimes in future.
Chaoba described the incident as a cowardly act.
Meanwhile, the Thadou Students' Association General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) vehemently condemned the Karnataka's gangster led mob frequently attacking the north east students especially from Manipur.
TSA said since Bangalore is a city which has a high density of outstanding students, particularly from the north east India and Africa, the central government, the Karnataka government and the Manipur government should co-ordinate to see the safety of the NE people there.
TSA then blamed the Manipur government saying due to worsening situation in Manipur on all spheres the students go outside the state to study.
Further, the TSA-GHQ appeals to O.Ibobi Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur to immediate intervene in the matter and communication with his counterpart of the Karnataka State and bring an amicable solution regarding the incident before "our toleration capacity" goes out of control.
Regarding this incident, the TSA-GHQ extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Democratic Students' alliance of Manipur (DESAM) for their timely concern.
The TSA will go hand in hand with DESAM especially in this issue, it added.
In fact, this is incident is condemnable by all the like minded students'/social organisations in the state in the interest of social justice.
