Two succumb, 272 new cases detected

Imphal, September 03 2021: The state on Friday reported two death cases and 272 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 3107 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 8.75 per cent against 7.58 per cent recorded on Thursday.

Though the positivity rate dropped to single digit; Bishnupur, Chandel, Imphal East and Ukhrul districts recorded double digit positivity rate while Churachandpur and Imphal West districts recorded single digit yet high positivity rate.

On the other hand, two death cases were reported on Friday and they are from Imphal East and Thoubal district.

The cumulative number of deaths has now reached 1792 .

Both the victims had co-morbid conditions and one had received the second dose of Covishield.

So far, 93 vaccinated individuals, including six who had received both doses of Covid vaccine, had died of Covid-19 .

The active caseload has reduced to 3267 out of which 1006 (30.79 per cent) are in home isolation, 992 (30.36 per cent) in CHICs, 710 (21.73 per cent) in CCCs and 559 (17.11 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 116 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 182 are on oxygen support and 47 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Iland Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 185, 32 and 17 patients respectively.

At the same time, 16 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Friday evening, 515 beds including 92 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Thursday evening 2764 beds were available in different CCCs, and 348 beds (18 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 85,374 positive cases and 1418 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 2108 new cases and 22 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 272 new positive cases included 265 civilians (125 male & 140 female and 7 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (8), JNIMS (29) and other testing centres (235).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (46), Imphal West (103), Thoubal (9), Bishnupur (26), Kakching (4), Ukhrul (20), Churachandpur (32), Chandel (6), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (4), Jiribam (1), Pherzawl (1) and Kangpokpi (5) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 293 patients were discharged from home isolation (144), RIMS (15), JNIMS (3), CCCs (94) and CHICs (37) .

Another 30 cases were reported as discharged only on Friday and the total number of recovered cases in the last 24 hours is considered as 323 .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,14,774 (general population - 1,10,646 and CAPF personnel - 4,128).Number of recovered cases is 1,09,715 (general population - 1,05,621 and CAPF personnel - 4,094) and number of active cases is 3,267 (general population - 3,238 and CAPF personnel - 29).The recovery rate is 95.59 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1017 D-type and 257 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 5481 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,90,974 out of which the actual number of fully vaccinated individual is only 3,55,369 .

Meanwhile, 11 new positive cases were detected out of 46 samples tested in Kakching district on Friday registering a positivity rate of 21.91 per cent.

One case was detected at Jivan Hospital and 10 at government RAT sites.

All of them are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching Dr Kesho.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (38,919), Imphal East (25,486), Thoubal (9158), Churachandpur (9683), Kangpokpi (2640), Tamenglong (3160), Bishnupur (8758), Senapati (2091), Ukhrul (2341), Kakching (6216), Chandel (2171), Noney (999), Tengnoupal (1014), Jiribam (1008), Kamiong (714) and Pherzawl (416) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (595), Imphal East (420), Thoubal (164), Churachandpur (153), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (183), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (28), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney fa), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 36,988 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,601 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,93,746 tests per million population against the national average of 3,77,211 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3107 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.75 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.39 per cent.
