One day awareness on Bamboo and Cane organised

Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CNTC) Assam and Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS) organised a one day awareness programme on 'Bamboo and Cane' at South East Asian Studies, MU today.
The programme was sponsored by North East Council Shillong, DoNER Ministry.
South East Asian Studies, Head Professor Amar Yumnam graced the function as the chief guest while AIMS vice president Mayanglambam Khelendro attended as the president.
Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI Mysuru Dr Ng Iboyaima, Yang English Academy, Ukhrul Principal K Vareiyo, Machi village authority Chairman Dangsha Rouwaithanh Maring, Pheiyeng village chief Ningthoujam Tonyai, Andro social activist Puthem Memcha, CBTC manager H Priyokumar, CBTC retired Scientist TC Bhuyan and Department of Economics, MU Professor Ranjit as the guests of honour.
CBTC training manager H Priyokumar said that bamboo and cane have a deep rooted connection with the forefathers and history of the State.
The awareness programme has been organised to explore and expand the utilities of these plants apart from disseminating awareness on processing of bamboo shoots.
