37,027 photo-less voters struck out from electoral rolls

With the Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Roll under process in the State, around 37,027 voters who failed to provide photos in the electoral roll have been scrapped from the voters' list.
According to report received from the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, the month-long electoral rolls summary revision which commenced from October 1 has been initiated with the main motive of providing draft photos of every individual in the electoral rolls.
However, till today, around 37, 027 voters whose photos have not been submitted despite repeated reminders, have been scrapped from the electoral rolls.
The report said that all the voters whose names have been scrapped from the electoral rolls can re-included themselves in the electoral roll if they submit their photos to their respective authorities concerned latest by October 30.Failing to submit their photos within the stipulated time will ultimately lead to deleting of their names from the electoral rolls forever.
All those individuals who have attained the age of 18 years or who would be attaining 18 years by January 2013 can enroll themselves in the electoral rolls, the report said, adding that January 2013 has been assigned as the qualifying date.
According to the 2011 census report, the total number of voters in Manipur is 17,41,581 .
Among these, the number of male voters are 8,51,540 while that of female voters are 8,90,041 .
The final electoral rolls is expected to be published on January 5, 2013 .
