Imphal, February 07 2010:
Over and above suspension of teaching program and emergency services, the agitating employees of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences have decided to suspend OPD services from 9 am of February 8, in a joint press release of the Teachers & Medical Officers Association, RIMS, Association of Junior Doctors, RIMS, RIMS Nurses Association, RIMS and Non-teaching Welfare Association, RIMS.
The move to intensify the agitation was taken in a combined meeting of the four associations held on February 7 to review the ongoing agitation which entered its 2nd day today.
Further line of action will be reviewed in tune with developments or on February 9, whichever is earlier, said the release.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur, Desam, in the meanwhile has appealed to the striking RIMS associations to revoke the strike in consideration of the untold suffering which will be caused by the strike.
Continuing, the release reasoned that since the hundreds of patients come everyday for treatments of various diseases, even if the striking feels it is absolutely essential to resort to suspension of various services, it should restrict the same to only a fixed number of days.
