Imphal, August 30 2020:
Consumers' Club, Manipur has drawn the attention of concerned departments to look into the matter pertaining to delivery of LPG cylinders in the State and unchecked price rise amidst COVID-19 lockdown.
Consumers' Club, in a statement, said that gas agencies in the State started home delivery services in view of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis but many LPG consumers are facing inconveniences with delivery agencies delaying distribution.
Besides, the contact numbers provided by these agencies are most of the time unreachable, making consumers helpless, the club alleged while seeking intervention from IOC and CAF&PD Department to ensure the LPG agencies work properly and address the grievances of the consumers at the earliest.
If these agencies/agents fail to provide working contact numbers, the club will seek legal aid, it said.
The club also reiterated their concern over unchecked price rise in the State.
Reminding the Government that distribution of rice under NFSA and other few items will do little to help economically backward people, the club urged all concern agencies to check the price of essential items which has seen a tremendous price inflation since imposition of lockdown.
The club also appealed to all involved in wholesale and retail activities to work sincerely and ensure fair prices of items to the consumers.
