Police arrest two for cruelty to animal

Imphal, August 30 2020:
The State police today arrested two individuals in connection with a cruelty to animals case.
One individual was arrested for dragging a dog with a rope on a motorcycle back while the other for preparing meat out of the same dog.
According to police, the two individuals have been identified as Motilal Thiyam (47), S/o (L) Th Chaoba of Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai and Yursem Muinao (35), Wilson from Ngainga, Ukhrul.
Yursem is currently residing at Tangkhul Avenue, Imphal.
A Video of the dog dragging on a road by Motilal Thiyam was circulated widely on social media, today.
Manipur Dog Lovers' Club and Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife & Biodiversity raised a complaint to the Officer-in-Charge of Lamphel Police Station to identify and book the culprits as per the law of the land.
Responding to the complaint, a team of Lamphel police led by the OC, Inspector Th Manihar himself investigated the case and arrested the dog dragger.
And from Motilal information, Yursem was arrested from Nagaram Block-D, where the dog
was prepared.
