Combined team arrest two RPF/PLA cadres

Two members, including one overground activist of the proscribed RPF/PLA have been arrested along with nine extortion notes addressed to different MLAs and intending candidates in the ensuing polls to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly by a combined team of Imphal West and Imphal East police commandos on Thursday, according
to police.
Police said Okram Sharatchandra, 45 s/o (L) O Ibohal Meitei, a resident of Pukhao Laipham in Imphal East, was arrested at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal in the district this morning around 7:30 during a search operation jointly launched by a team of Imphal West and Imphal East District Police led by Officer in-charge Imphal East Chandrakumar.
Another overground member of the outfit was managed to nab by the same team around 10:40 am following information received through the mobile phone of Sharatchandra.
He has been identified as Wanghengbam Sunil Singh alias Devan, 42 s/o W Mangi Singh of Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai in Imphal West.
Sharatchandra disclosed that he joined RPF/PLA in 2006 through one self-styled revenue officer-1 finance department of the group, Salam Ajit Luwang alias Rombus and presently working under his command.
The duo is also reported to have disclosed that they involved in the extortion of huge amount of money from the general public, government offices, and also transported arms and ammunition from place to place for the UG outfit, police said.
Nine extortion note and two mobile handsets were seized from them, they added.
