Imphal, April 28 2013:
All Manipur Students' Guardian Association (AMSGA) has urged the school van drivers not to overcrowd their vehicles while transporting students.
In a press conference held at its office at Palace Compound, Secretary (Orgn) of the Association, S Sumati said, many van service providers neglect safety norms as they transport students in jam-packed vehicles.
In this regard, she drew attention of the apex body of the school transporters and guardians of the students for necessary measures.
On the otherhand, Sumati also expressed concern over the poor quality of paper, print, binding and covers of the school text books published by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur.
She demanded that the Board exert pressure on the publication houses of these books for maintaining standard quality.
Poor quality of text books has now proved to be a burden to the economically unsound parents and guardians as they have to buy these books for their children more than once during an academic session.
She further urged the Government to initiate special arrangement of giving education to sportspersons by introducing open schooling system in the State.
Sumati also requested the Govt to permit the sportspersons to appear in the Board examination as private candidates.
