Two AR jawans hurt in serial blasts

Imphal, April 28 2013:
Two AR personnel including a Subedar sustained injuries in a serial bomb attacks carried out by unknown armed miscreants near Ngariyan Muslim village in Imphal East district under Yairipok Police Station today.
The incident occurred around 5:15 pm today at a place, about 1 km away from Andro Lamkhai towards Andro, but not so far away from the Manipur Police Outpost located at Andro Lamkhai.
According to Police report, the incident took place when a troop of 40 Assam Rifles stationed at Andro were coming back to their post from Imphal.
Three blasts went off one after the other when the first Gypsy leading the convoy reached the spot.
The two injured personnel were seated in the first Gypsy.
The following two blasts did not cause any damage to other vehicles following behind the first Gypsy as they did not explode anywhere near the vehicles.
The two injured AR personnel have been identified as Subedar Anand Pandey (55) of Uttarakhand while the other, the driver of ill-fated Gypsy as Md Jakir Hussain (36) of Tripura.
They were given first aid at the Community Health Centre of Yairipok before being shifted to RIMS for further treatment.
When the report of the serial blasts reached, Imphal East District Police Commandos stationed at Andro Lamkhai Outpost and AR personnel posted at Andro rushed in and carried out extensive search operation.
However, there is no report of any suspects made in connection with the serial blasts so far.
Though no one has claimed responsibility for the serial blasts, police are of the opinion it was carried out by CorCom.
