New Governor sworn in; visits INA, temple

Former Rajya Sabha member La Ganesan has been sworn in as the Governor of Manipur in a ceremony held Friday at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, here.
High Court of Manipur chief justice PV Sanjay Kumar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ganesan.
After the ceremony which was attended by chief minister N Biren, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and senior officials of the state government, the Governor inspected the guard of honour.
Later in the day, Governor Ganesan visited the Indian National Army (INA) memorial at Moirang in Bishnupur district and paid floral tributes to the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the INA soldiers.
He also took a tour of the INA museum located within the complex during which the museum curator briefed the Governor on the background information of the photographs, war memorabilia, art works among others, which are on display at the galleries.
The Governor was accompanied by family members, Raj Bhavan officials, Bishnupur district's deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, ADM and other district level officials.
After returning to Imphal, the Governor went to Shree Shree Govindajee Temple, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the heart of Imphal city, and offered prayers.
