Giving the president's speech on the occasion, AMSU president Sanasam Subhachandra said that today's generation should not forget the 1965 incident wherein the students sacrificed their lives for the Manipuri nation.
Since Manipur was merged with the Indian Union in 1949, Manipuri people have been denied of their rights by the Government of India and as well as the State Government, he claimed.
These Governments have been using military force against its own citizens when they go against them over various issue from time to time, said Subhachandra.
Calling on all the communities of the State to be remained united, Subhachandra further mentioned the case of Sapam Robinhood who was brutally killed by security forces during a protest rally in demand of ILPS on July 8 last.
The erstwhile independent kingdom, Manipur has become dependent-State now after it was merged with India, said Subhachandra while appealing to the people to form the habit of work culture in the State.
