'Health card prog for students'

A two-day training on sickle cell anaemia was held from August 24 to 25 at Tribal Research Institute, Imphal under the aegis of the Department of Tribal Affairs, Hill and SC Development.
A statement issued by the TA and Hills Director M Vaiphei said the training was conducted in connection with the programme for detection of sickle cell anaemia amongst tribal students under the SCA to Tribal Sub Plan scheme of the Government of India.
The training session initiated by SK Dev Verman, Principal Secretary of TAH and SC in the presence of Minlianthang Vaiphei, Director of TAH and SC; Armstrong Pame, Joint Secretary, TA and Hills; Dr V Haokip, MO/TAH and SC and Dr Sharma, leader of the guest faculty.
Speaking at the opening event, SK Dev Verman said the Department of TA and Hills is implementing a comprehensive health card programme for all students under ADC run schools.
The health cards will record the sickle cell status and other health parameters of each student in possession of the card.
Altogether 110 master trainers from six ADCs attended the two-day training programme.
Dr S K Sharma, ScientistF; S Gogoi and R Dutta, Technicians from RMRC, Dibrughar, Assam attended the programme as resource persons.
