Imphal, August 27 2015:
Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur (FATYCM) has submitted a memorandum to the PM demanding a separate All India Radio (AIR), Imphal for tribal of Manipur.
In a representation to the PM, R Asing, president of FATYCM said that the AIR Imphal programme is monopolised by the major community.
Some tribal communities are alloted programme for a short duration ranging from 30 minutes to mere 5 minutes a day.
It pointed out that the live discussion programme/analysis of daily newspapers after the morning news is mostly used to present one-sided views, often with derogatory remarks and comments against the tribals.
The tribals are left with no mean to defend, clarify and express their sides of the story.
In such a scenario, the tribals need separate AIR station at Imphal, FATYCM said.
