Breast Cancer awareness, examination camp held at Motbung

Observation of Breast Cancer awareness and examination camp was held today at model village Motbung in Kangpokpi District under the aegis of District Health Society, Kangpokpi District.
Organized by NPCDCS under NCD Cell, Kangpokpi District, the awareness and examination camp at PHC Motbung was graced by Lhingneikim Kipgen, ZEO Kangpokpi as Chief Guest while Hahat Touthang, General Secretary, Kuki Women Union, Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District and Dr Kimneng Misao, District Mission Director/CMO Kangpokpi attended as Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.
Dr Rosemary Vumkhoching, MS Surgeon, Associate professor, JNIMS, Imphal attended as resource persons apart from Dr Paotinlal Haokip, District Nodal Officer (DNO), NCD Cell, Kangpokpi and Dr Lhingboi Doungel, MO i/c PHC Motbung and various other medical officials and staffs.
More than 200 participants including ASHAs, ASHA facilitator, programme management units and other staff including MO from all the health centres under Kangpokpi District, various CSOs leaders and student leaders also attended the event.
Speaking at the function, resource person Dr Rosemary Vumkhoching said that no one knows the condition of your breast better than yourself, therefore, if anyone has any sign and symptoms suspected to be of Breast Cancer, especially, Breast Lump, she should go for checkup without any further delay.
She also said that Breast CA is the most common Cancer among female in India but it can be prevented by regular self breast examination, avoiding risk factors, early healthcare seeking for any suspected Breast CA development and regular screening while adding that early detection is the key to prevention.
A practical step of self breast examination was also demonstrated while all the participants were encouraged to spread the knowledge they gain to other staff
and the public.
