CM flags off 'Advancing North East career on wheels'

Imphal, May 20 2022:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday afternoon flagged off three Vehicles of the "Advancing North East Career on Wheels" from the main gate of Chief Minister's Secretariat here.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony, CM Biren informed that website pertaining to Advancing North East was launched by President Ram Nath Kovind recently from Assam.
He said the vehicles and the official teams will drive to all 16 districts of the State and visit educational institutions to meet the students.
Further stating that this will help in developing Manipur, the CM said that the portal Will provide informed counselling on any issue to the interested students of the region including higher education, start-up projects, entrepreneurship, getting training, etc.
Meanwhile, responding to questions from media, CM Biren informed that steps have been taken up to terminate the services of police personnel involved in drug trade, including retirement of personnel found addicted to drugs.
Mentioning about the arrest of two police personnel in a drug bust at Lilong two days ago, the CM conveyed that after questioning, the two personnel revealed involvement of two ASIs who have now been suspended.
The ASIs have been identified as Md Rijuwal of Lilong attached to Moreh Check Post from Imphal East Police, and Md Kamijur Rahman of Kyamgei Muslim attached to Narcotic Cell from Imphal East Police.
Both of them are to surrender their selves to the police on Friday, failing which arrest warrants would be issued.
To prevent such incidents from happening again and to serve as an example, steps are being taken up to terminate the services of the two ASIs and any other personnel involved in drug trade, including retirement of police personnel found abusing drugs, he stated.
Regarding suspension of sewage treatment at Solid Waste Management plant, Lamdeng due non-supply of electricity, CM Biren assured to look into the matter as soon as possible.
According to NEDFi assistant manager Prithviraj Neog, the Advancing North East is a website providing a one-stop solution for career and livelihood to the youth of the North East.
It is a portal developed by NEDFi which is funded by North Eastern Council, Ministry of DoNER.
It is meant to promote the successes of NE region, in addition to acting as a 'Centre of Knowledge' to promote sharing of knowledge and experiences among entrepreneurs, mentors, industry experts and youth.
It is a "one-stop solution" web portal for career and livelihood which is available at the domain www.advancingnortheast.in.
As a part of the portal's outreach campaign, "Advancing North East - Career on Wheels" was kick-started which will cover all the districts of NER states in the coming months where awareness amongst the students and youth of North East will be created on how to use the portal for making an informed decision about their career and livelihood, he said.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by officials of NEDFi and Advancing North East.
The event was also participated by Additional CS V Vumlunmang, Department of Planning director N Kulkarani Devi, NEDFi chairman and MD PVSLN Murty, executive director S K Baruah, and other senior officials from NEDFi.
