Imphal, December 19 2014 :
'All India Radio has been continuously feeding the listeners with useful information on a variety of subjects and the people of the state can benefit from the various programmes of the AIR Imphal'.
This was disclosed by Hidangmayum Rahul Sharma, winner of the 'NE Body can sing' event organised by All India radio, North East Region at Yu Su Su Auditorium in Shillong.
Narrating his ordeal leading to the success in the reality show to this Daily, the triumphant Rahul said that an elder from his locality who is a regular radio listener informed and instigated him to join the competition.
Rahul, son of H Brajamani Sharma and Bidhumukhi of Thinungei Sorok Mapal ward number 9 in Bishnupur district, had earlier earned the fourth position in the 'Best of AMMIK' competition held at Lamyanba Sanglen at Palace Compound Imphal.
"It was an inspiration for me to join in bigger competitions like the 'NE Body can sing', the 16th Reality Show of All India Radio", said Rahul.

He had to pass a number of auditions at AIR Imphal, before participating in the competition.
In the first round, altogether 166 competitors of the state vied for the seats.
Only 36 including Rahul were selected for the second round.
"When the result for the first round of screening was declared, I was in Guwahati.
As the audition was to be held the next day, I had to return home immediately", the winner related.
Although Rahul boarded the Imphal bound bus at Guwahati and proceeded upto Jorhabad, he had to get down from the bus and return back to Guwahati after realizing that the bus-journey would not drop him at Imphal early next day.
After booking a flight the next day, he arrived at Imphal on October 17 around 12 pm and participated in the second round of screening.
Subsequently, he reached the final round of the audition along with other eight contestants.
In the final round, he presented the infamous number from noted singer Nongmaithem Pahari 'Nang gi Napal gi Thouraba Tingkhangna', which he never heard before.
After a few days, news of his selection for the event came.
Hectic rehearsals for the competition kept him engaged for a number of days.
"I had to present two songs in addition to the one sung in the final round of screening, so I picked up Huidrom Naoboy's song 'Sukke Keda Ningthijabi..' as my second number in the contest", Rahul told this Daily.
"At Shillong, the venue of the event, programme executive of AIR Imphal Bijaya Yumlembam guided and inspired me to attain success in the contest", Rahul recounted and said that he presented the two numbers nicely enthralling the audience.
Being the fourth contestant in the final round, Hidangmayum Rahul had the confidence that he would win the coveted title.
Rahul said he would never forget the contributions made by Akoijam Manikanta from Thingnungei, Polestar Guardian Association, lyricist Thingbaijam Swarankumar, and staff members of AIR Imphal in his success at the contest.
He also lauded Director Moirangthem Kanankumar and staff of AIR Imphal for extending him a warm reception.
