Imphal, December 19 2014 :
Locals of Naharup Huirem Leikai and Bamon Kampu blocked Imphal-Yairipok road at Lairenpat area during the 12-hour bandh clamped on the road against acquisition of a village playground for the construction of PWD and Power Department office buildings today.
Since early morning, the bandh supporters disrupted traffic movement by placing logs, boulders, tree branches and other heavy objects on the road.
Some protesters even prevented the reporters, who went there to collect news, from entering the area by shouting abusive words at them.

However, police dispersed the bandh supporters by firing tear gas shells at around 2 pm.
Later in the afternoon, some elders of the two localities came to the office of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and tendered an apology for the ugly scene created by some bandh supporters against the reporters.
They also assured the scribe body that such incidents would not happen in future.
