Driver of a Tata Winger passenger van, which brought 13 passengers from Dimapur to Imphal on NH-2, fled with the luggages and other belongings of the passengers from Zupzag in Nagaland today morning.
The place is located on the highway just a few kms away from Kohima.
According to a passenger, 13 persons including one child and four women boarded the vehicle, which belong to News Travels, from Dimapur last night.
When they reached Zupzag at around 4 am today, a female passenger requested the driver to stop his van for a while as she felt nauseous.
The driver stopped his vehicle on a roadside and asked all the passengers to get off, he said.
Soon after the passengers got down from the van, the driver sped away towards Kohima/Imphal and never returned, he added.
After one of the passengers informed the matter to the ticket counter at Imphal, a new van arrived at the area at around 9 am and brought all the passengers to Imphal at around 2 pm.
After reaching Imphal, they neither found their luggages and belongings nor the first vehicle, the passengers said.
According to the reception at News Travels ticket counter, the driver has been identified as Hemchandra alias Tomba of Hiyangthang, he added.
