Imphal, June 11 2019:
Even though welcomed by the people with open arms, road construction works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have reportedly brought only negative impacts for the people of Uran Chiru village.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today Uran Chiru Village Authority chairman SD Alar Chiru said that the road leading from Eco Park, Nongmaijing Chingkhong to Lembakhul is undergoing construction under the PMGSY.
However, in the name of road construction, the water pipeline of the village was severed and many of the electric posts were left here and there unevenly.
Apart from these, many drains and culverts were also affected as well, he added.
On the other hand, the road leading from Keirao Khunou to Uran Chiru is also in a deplorable condition, he said and appealed to the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
Uran Chiru falls under Lamlai AC and Island Block of Kangpokpi district.
The village has a total of 52 households and 300 people, he said and alleged that from November of 2017 till now, the villagers have not received NFSA rice more than once.
