Naga bodies condemn Chandel ambush

United Naga Council (UNC), Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO), Naga Women Union, Tribe presidents in a joint meeting held on Monday at CNPO's office condemned the ambush on June 4 that killed 18 soldiers.
Condemning the deadly attack in the strongest term, the joint meeting said that any underground groups must not upset the people for creating war in a peaceful zone.
The meeting condoled and mourned the loss of 18 security forces and shared deepest sorrow with the bereaved families of the soldiers.
The Naga Bodies also prayed and wished speedy recovery of the injured.
The meeting also deliberated on the combing operation launched by the Indian forces and resolved that the operation should be conducted according to the order of the court and women police personnel should be deployed in the operational areas.
The Naga bodies further appealed for the safe return of four villagers of Tonsen Khullen who were reported missing from June 3 after they went out for hunting.
