Imphal, August 07 2016 :
The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded cancellation of the written examination for recruitment of Assistant Registrar (4 posts) of Manipur University that was held today.
DESAM president Moirangthem Angamba in a press meet held at DESAM head office today said the alliance has been opposing the recruitment of 4 registrars into Manipur University.
Defying the opposition, the Vice-Chancellor of MU conducted the written examination at MU Social Sciences block today, he alleged.
DESAM volunteers stormed the Social Sciences block demanding termination of the examination.
The volunteers reportedly snatched answer sheets from some candidates and tore them inside the examination hall.
Few candidates tried to leave the examination hall midway.
But the VC ushered them back into the hall where they took the examination.
Large security forces were deployed at the Social Sciences block until the end of the examination.
The daughter of the VC was also appearing the examination, Angamba said.
As per an order of the HRD Ministry issued on August 13 last year, a VC of a varsity who has only two months left in his tenure cannot take part in recruitment processes of the varsity.
The present VC of MU has only 10 days left before his retirement.
The answer sheets of the today's examination have been deposited at Kakwa Police Station.
The results of the written examination that was held today, should be invalidated, the alliance president demanded.
