Blood donation camp held

Celebrating International Friendship Day in a
unique way, the Friendship and Development Organisation in
collaboration with Blood Bank of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of
Medical Sciences (JNIMS) conducted a voluntary blood donation
camp at JNIMS today.
Applauding the good will gestures of volunteers of
Friendship and Development Organisation, Director of
JNIMS Dr L Deben said such creative ideas to extend
help to human kind should be endorsed by all.
He further appealed to all people to donate blood on
regular basis as the State lack blood supply for emergency
purposes.
Speaking to media persons Dr K Surjit, blood bank
officer said JNIMS blood bank has a capacity to house
600 units of blood but, the ideal stock for rational use is
300 to 350 units.
As of today, the bank has 254 units of blood.
When
asked of the charges impose on patients for blood, he said
a minimal processing charge of Rs 350 is charged and the
patient party is asked to replenish one unit of blood.
