Expressing her viewpoints on pugilist Laishram Sarita who has been clamped life-ban by AIBA following the boxer's refusal to accept medal over a controversial decision in the Incheon Asian Games, renowned weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai said that the incident involving Sarita who was made to defeat in a bout by wrongful decision of judges was a kind which every sports player would not want to take place.
In a chit-chat with this daily, Mirabai maintained that it would be an intolerable feeling for every sports player if he/she is made to defeat by wrongful decision despite outstanding performance much better than its opponent.
Stating that she felt deep pain when Sarita was humiliated by giving wrongful decision, the weightlifter asserted that the behavior shown by Sarita during the medal presentation ceremony was due to her uncontrollable anger following the one-sided decision.
Sports players are also human.
He or she may act otherwise if something untrue decision is awarded, she added.
Contending that the decision to restrict Sarita from participating in the World Women's Boxing Championship was too harsh, she made a fervent appeal to the concerned sports bodies to lift the ban imposed against Sarita at the earliest and bring her back to the boxing world.
