Campaig-ning for the 5th General Panchayat election scheduled on October 7 ended today at 4 pm .
State Election Commission Secretary M Radhamani informed that all necessary preparations have been completed while due security arrangements have been put in place.
She also appealed to the voters to exercise their right to vote peacefully without any sense of fear .
Voting will begin at 8 am and continue till 4 pm .
Ballot papers of three different colours��pink for Zilla Parishad, yellow for Pradhan and white for Ward Member, would be used .
Altogether 178 candidates are contesting for 60 Zilla Parishad seats, 446 candidates for 158 seats of Pradhan while 2556 candidates are in the fray for 1118 seats of Ward Member .
Three Pradhan candidates and 391 Ward Member candidates have been already elected unopposed .
Altogether 3,68,692 female voters and 3,48,139 male voters are expected to exercise their right to adult franchise at 1520 polling stations spread across Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur and Jiribam districts .
Votes will be counted on October 11 .
