World Teachers' Day celebrated

Admitting that many a times teachers were asked to do many things beyond their capabilities and which are against the teaching ethics, Professor Kh Tomba Singh, Dean of Student's Welfare, Manipur University has appealed to all the concerned stakeholders to let teachers work without any interference .
Addressing the World Teachers' Day Celebration organised by Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) on the theme "Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers" at the Centenary Hall of the university, Professor Tomba who graced the occasion as president observed that unwarranted pressures from different quarters create extreme disturbances to teachers who help others to acquire knowledge, competences and values .

He asked MUSU and other authorities concerned to organise functions in the university in such a way that it would not harm the academic calendar of the university .
He appreciated office bearers of the students union for organising the celebration function and felicitating teachers in a grand manner on the auspicious day .
He also appealed to the teaching community to maintain academic atmosphere in the university campus .
Attending as chief guest, Dean, School of Life Sciences and the VC in-charge, Professor W Vishwanath said that World Teachers' Day celebration reminds the role and responsibilities of teachers .
He stressed on the importance of maintaining effective teaching method, saying sound knowledge should be imparted to students to make them able to stand of their own in future and serve the society .
Professor N Lokendro Singh, Dean School of Social Sciences, Professor N Rajmuhon Singh, Dean, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Professor Ng Nimai Singh, president, Manipur University Teacher's Association and HoD Physics Department were present as guests of honour.
On the occasion, teachers of the university were honoured by presenting them with simple gifts.
