The Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL) and Tangkhul Headmen Association have urged the State Government to conduct Biometrics Enrolment (BME) in all the villages of the district to ensure proper coverage of people residing in Ukhrul .
According to a statement issued by TNWL president AS Vaomi, various cases of omission of residents in the ongoing biometrics enrolment process have occurred in the district .
He said, the Government has made mandatory for all to obtain Aadhaar cards so that various benefit and schemes of the Government like PMAY, ration cards, MGNREGS etc, however, the case is not applicable for those who are not enrolled yet .
The authority of Aadhaar biometrics enrolment requires verification/certification from the village authorities while conducting BME exercise in different villages, he asserted and added that several individuals, who have applied for Aadhaar have not been enrolled yet .
The TNWL also submitted memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul and also the MLAs concerned to look into the matter for prompt action.
